The Truth about Glucosamine

Glucosamine can help knee and joint pain

What is Glucosamine Used For? Can Glucosamine Help My Arthritis?

Its a common question: What about glucosamine and will it help me? Will glucosamine help my arthritis? What about glucosamine chondroitin or other forms of glucosamine? Today we will teach you the truth about glucosamine!

What is glucosamine beneficial for? What does it help, and when is it a waste of money?

You don't want to waste money on something that is not going to be beneficial for your particular situation, right? Glucosamine is for people that have problems with the surfaces of their joints. For example, if you've been told that you have osteoarthritis, that would be an example of a joint surface problem where the surfaces of the bone may have gotten a little bit of arthritic change or a little bit of wear and tear typically with aging. Things like knee arthritis, hip arthritis, hand arthritis, and other forms of arthritis respond well to glucosamine. We don't recommend its use for muscle or tendon problems, just joint surface issues that have some wear and tear.

Glucosamine is not regulated by the FDA

You should also know that these supplements are not regulated by the FDA, so it pays to be a wise consumer.

When I started to get some early arthritis in my hands and fingers several years ago, I set out on a mission to research all glucosamine products to see if it could help me and my patients, as well as to ensure its purity. In studying the medical research journals, I came across the product that I personally use and have available here for my patients--it is called Invigoflex GS. It has helped my hand soreness, pain, and stiffness substantially, and my patients have found it extremely helpful as well. (In fact, I also have my 14-year-old dog, Sasha, using Invigoflex GS!)

Which glucosamine product is right for you

The neat thing about this glucosamine product is that it doesn't use any shellfish, so if you're allergic to shellfish this is safe. Also, it is the perfect glucosamine to use if you are vegetarian. We carry Invigoflex GS glucosamine here at the Wichita office, and we would be happy to discuss your particular situation with you to help answer questions about it and to insure it is the right product to help you. (We don't want you to waste your time or money on something that won't help YOU!)
